BATU KATAK
This village on the edge of the Gunung Leuser National Park is known for its incredible Amorphophalus Titanium flowers and for its karstic forest in which several species of apes and primates coexist in the wild along with the King of the jungle, the Sumatran Tiger.
Batu Katak also offers the possibility of carrying out spereology excursions in one of the largest caves in the area.
Its population, largely of the Karo ethnic group, brings a particular culture and customs to this place.
By visiting this village you can enjoy immersing yourself in a new experience, sharing with community groups and learning about their traditions.
Batu Katak is located half an hour from Bahorok, a central town with public services such as shops, local market, banks, health center and public transport.
A little further away but with easy access and connection is the town of Bukit Lawang, with its tourist activities. In this area of the national park we find semi-wild Orangutans that cannot return to their natural state since they suffered trauma as pets. Today there are new generations but they are still not 100 percent wild.
We return to Batu Katak where your experiences will be more real and alternative, with tourism focused on conservation and local economic development.
Here you can stay at Batu Katak Giboon guesthouse, the main center of our program.
Without forgetting that Ecotourism means being aware of what surrounds us, respecting all living beings, providing positive knowledge for others, taking care of animal rights...
By booking your vacation with us you make it possible for many people to have a decent job with a fair salary and you will support the conservation of the Fauna and Flora of Sumatra.
