The Alobi Foundation operates the Wildlife Rescue Centre (Pusat Penyelamatan Satwa – PPS Alobi) in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands, Indonesia. Established in response to rising illegal wildlife trade, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict across Sumatra and its surrounding islands, ALOBI is dedicated to saving endangered species and restoring balance to local ecosystems.
1. Rescue, Rehabilitate, Release & Monitor
Rescue: Responding to calls regarding illegal wildlife trade, illegal pet confiscations, and human-wildlife conflicts.
Rehabilitation: Providing veterinary medical care, species-appropriate nutrition, and behavioural rehabilitation at PPS Alobi.
Release: Returning healthy animals to safe, protected natural habitats across Sumatra and the Bangka Belitung archipelago.
Post-Release Monitoring: Tracking released wildlife to evaluate survival rates and habitat adaptation.
2. Endemic Species Research & Conservation
ALOBI focuses specialised research and field conservation efforts on key regional species:
Western Tarsier (Tarsius bancanus): Conducting crucial ecological research on nocturnal primates native to Bangka and Belitung.
Sunda Slow Loris (Nycticebus coucang): Protection and rehabilitation programs to combat illegal pet trade exploitation.
Binturong & Marine Mammals: Responding to wildlife events, including facilitating necropsies and strandings (e.g., Irrawaddy dolphins).
1. Rescue, Rehabilitate, Release & Monitor
Restoring degraded environments by planting native tree species and wild food sources to support wild animal populations and reduce habitat fragmentation caused by mining and deforestation.
4. Community Education & Legal Advocacy
Collaborating directly with the Ministry of Forestry (Kementerian Kehutanan) and law enforcement authorities (Balai Gakkum Wilayah Sumatera) to hold workshops, law enforcement socialisation events, and community education programs aimed at stopping wildlife crime.
Volunteer
The Alobi Foundation operates a Wildlife Conservation and Research Centre dedicated to addressing the consequences of hunting, illegal trade, and human-animal conflict. The foundation's core work is centred on the comprehensive care of wildlife, which includes Animal Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release, followed by Post-release Monitoring. Beyond direct animal care, the organisation focuses on conservation and research, community education and participation programs, and efforts to reintroduce food sources for endemic species like the Western Tarsier and Slow Loris in the Bangka Belitung Islands region of Indonesia.
The Alobi Foundation are looking to welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, whether they come from within Indonesia or from abroad.
