Our organization Ibu Bumi Orangutan has the mission of protecting the rainforest through different programs related to sustainable economic development, education and wildlife protection. To achieve this, we have several programs on the ground in collaboration with different local partners. Each of these programs has different missions.

We offer the opportunity to learn and share knowledge in the field also the possibility for students who have completed their studies and need an internship to do it with us. This type of volunteering is aimed at people of all ages and families who are 100% able to adapt to the field and work.

All the places that we offer to volunteers have rules in respect of the local culture ( muslims)

RESCUE CENTER PROGRAM AT PULAU BANGKA SOUTH SUMATRA

900€ 1 month - included room, food and activities, no included visa and personal items

Ibu bumi orangutan NGO in partnership with Alobi foundation we create a volunteers program to support the rescue center in bangkat island.

Volunteer activities are:

Rescue from ilegal market

Animal care and feeding

Release

Zookeeper

Vetenerinary assistent

And much more

Volunteers they also have the opportunity to visit some very interesting places and animal observation activities in their natural hábitat.

EDUCATION PROGRAM AND TREE NURSERY

700€ 15 days, weekend free ( you can enjoy to make rafting or booking for a trip day in the karst forest or visit the water cave- this activities not included in the budget, also you can visit another villages around)- included in the program budget is a private room in our guesthouse, food, normal drinks ,activities with professional guide and transport from bahorok to Batu Katak.

No included visa, transport until Batu katak, personal items, activities in your free time

In the village of Batu Katak, our organisation has been working for 5 years on a programme of sustainable tourism, agroforestry activities and children's education.

For this programme we offer the possibility of carrying out a different holiday experience, alternative activities together with responsible tourism.

We have organised 15 days in which you can participate in monitoring wildlife, help in English classes and environmental education with the children of Batu Katak and Batu Jonjon and two days of immersion in our forest camp.

These activities are designed for those who wish to go on a solidarity trip and learn how other cultures live.

WILDLIFE CORRIDOR IN GUNUNG LEUSER NATIONAL PARK

500€ per week included transport until location, food, homestay and activities, no included visa or personal items.

This volunteer program in only for students or people who want to do research on the field about biodiversity

We build a safe space for wildlife, working with the local community to avoid conflicts. The site where we work is a enclave on the middle of Gunung leuser national park. This agroforestry and research program is essential for the conservation of endangered species such as the Sumatran elephants and tigers that live in that area.

BIO CONSTRUCTION AND PERMACULTURE GARDEN WITH COFFEE FARMING

250€ 1 week

On the edge of the national park lies the Juma Coffee farm, this farm was created by a mix family( geman man and local woman) with the purpose of protecting the accesses to the national park that were being used by wildlife traffickers and poachers.

Our volunteer program focuses on helping this family build an ecotourism space that provides them with a livelihood and alternatives to continue with their conservation program. To do this, we want to build cabins out of mud and organic materials that will serve nature-loving tourists.

In addition to regenerating permaculture gardens and expanding organic coffee production.
